DeVry in the World
Institutions in the World
DeVry's origins date back to 1931, in Chicago (USA), when Professor Herman DeVry established DeForest Training School to prepare students for technical work in electronics. In 1953 the name was changed to DeVry Technical Institute. In 1968 it became DeVry Institute of Technology and is currently called DeVry University. During this period, DeVry expanded its offerings and introduced new programs in electronics and computing in 1957. In the 1980’s, catering to the growing demand for professionals in management and technology, DeVry created new programs and made acquisitions, diversifying its operations especially in the areas of health and business. After almost 80 years since the first steps of its founder, DeVry became one of the largest U.S. education providers, with more than 90 campuses and 110,000 students and it is present in 30 countries, including Brazil.
